Noida Students Raise Funds To Provide Water Wheelers To Women In Rural Rajasthan
Fuel A Dream

Gone are the days when one would need a whole lot of connections, meetups with big organisations and individuals to invest in their initiatives and fund them. The entire chronology of market research, preparing business plans, looking out for investors, presenting projects and finding interested parties has dissipated and crowdfunding has taken its place.

Fuel A Dream, an online crowd fundraising platform has made it easy for anyone in this day and age to launch their dream project and raise funds from the general public who find their projects worthwhile and interesting. It has opened gateways for one on one fundraising by its massive reach out.

A recent important project has witnessed 69 students from grade 9 to 11 of Shiv Nadar School, Noida, raise funds in association with Habitat For Humanity to provide water wheelers to rural women in Rajasthan in order to relieve them from carrying water in pots over their heads. Women in rural villages in India have been travelling more than three hours every day to fetch water from wells, resulting in physical and mental strain on their lives.

The water wheeler is a plastic water drum that rolls on the ground and has a capacity of up to 45 litres of water. The handle atop the wheeler helps one roll it on the ground easily instead of holding it in one’s arms or above one’s head. Hence, it takes responsibility away from women alone and includes her family as well. Habitat For Humanity India will provide water wheelers to women in different villages in Rajasthan. This project is part of the WASH Initiative (Water, Sanitation, Health) by the global nonprofit organization.

Started on January 30, 2020, the fundraiser has raised a total of Rs.6,30,462 currently, their target being Rs.13,04,100. You can contribute to the campaign by clicking here before February 13, 2020.
