#HGAcademy: Vaibhav Chhabra From Makers Asylum’s Content Recommendations For The Creator In You

#HGAcademy: At a time where our physical spaces are confined and movement is stifled, the only constant in our lives is our own creativity. For a while, we, at Homegrown have been toying with the idea of evolving our platform into space that inspires generations to believe that their career paths are not limited to those shaped by our society, and that there is a world out there that where creative industries are thriving. Our sole motivation behind this attempt is to shift the needle in the Indian creative industries.

Homegrown as a brand has always stood for responding to the Indian youth’s needs, and to this end, we bring to you HG Academy, to teach you everything your school didn’t. As we spend our days inside our homes and within ourselves, HGAcademy with its commune of creative thought leaders and pioneers will teach you the basics that you might not get access to elsewhere. We hope for it to evolve into a culture of creation, collaboration, discovery through exchange of thoughts & ideas.

The coming weeks will see digital festivals, skill building sessions, new personal & professional strategies and similar efforts towards connecting you to the world of creators to learn and be inspired. The aim is to deep-dive into creative process, new ways of learning, re-imagination of old ways and experience and learn more.

The #HGAcademy line up for this week kickstarts on the 25th of March: Creating your own Makers space in times of islolation with @vaibhavchhabra from @makersasylum + innovating your own DIY face mask.

Vaibhav Chhabra is a mechanical engineer by education but a carpenter or maker of things by passion. A graduate from Boston University, Vaibhav spent first 2 years of his career at EyeNetra, a startup from MIT Media Labs, building portable Virtual Reality based eye diagnostic devices. While working with the rural community in India for his eye diagnostic prototype, Vaibhav founded ‘Makers Asylum.’ Maker’s Asylum is a community space focussed on fostering innovation through hands on learning. It also provides access to an ecosystem of stakeholders which includes Governments, Businesses, Incubators/Accelerators, Investors and subject matter experts. The space houses various labs that are co-located in order to facilitate prototyping of ideas that are interdisciplinary in nature. Vaibhav essentially coupled his degree with his passion to create the first community Makerspace in India. The key focus of this space is to foster education in areas of sustainability and disability.

We bring to you his recommendations for the best of content that will help you stay productive and inspired and create commodities of quality and intent. A series of podcasts, books, films and workshop recommendations have been listed by Vaibhav to fill your quarantine time-period with productivity. Who better than a self-taught maker who simply relied on his passion and skillset to create something of such great credibility to help motivate Indians to make the most of this time.
