Cyclone Amphan: Helpline Numbers For Bengal & Odisha

A super-cyclone which brewed over the Bay of Bengal made landfall over Eastern India and Bangladesh on Wednesday, killing at least 15 people as per BBC reports, as it lashed on the coastlines majorly of West Bengal and Odisha. Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal has been one of the worst hits in the state, succumbing to a maximum wind speed of 133kph. The Sunderbans in West Bengal saw a wind speed of 160kph. The landfall in the Sunderbans started at about 2.30 pm and continued till 6.30 pm, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Sagar, Namkhana, Kultali and Patharpratima blocks have been most affected.

Howrah Municipal Corporation has also issued a 24*7 helpline number for this. People can contact on 033-2637-1735 if needed. Besides this, the Howrah Municipal Corporation has established a control room for 24 hours. State and national disaster management teams have been deployed in the area.

Bhadrak Police in Odisha, please call us on tweet 100, or tweet us for help in any emergency during the cyclone. People residing outside Bhadrak can call 06784250027 if you want to contact us. Apart from this, Jaipur Police has asked to contact on dial 100 or 06726240445. Mayurbhanj Police has issued a call to dial 100 or 06792-252325 to contact in any emergency.

An initiative by Quarantined Student Youth Network has gone ahead to set up an Amphan Super Cyclone Response for North 24 Parganas, Sandeshkhali, Hingalgunj, South 24 Parganas, Basanti, Sagar, Purba Medinipur and Ramnagar.
