Ahmer ft SOS ft Aniket Raturi & Dakait (Prod.By Zero Chill) ‘Alamgaar’

In his latest collaboration, Kashmir’s emerging breakthrough artist Ahmer teams up with Straight Outta Srinagar (Tufail Nazir x Syed Arsalan) along with Team Evolution (Aniket Raturi & Dakait). The hard-hitting track by the five emcees talks about how some artists from the South Asian hip-hop scene have dominated the conversation while exploiting and betraying the culture. “Alamgaar is a defiant declaration against the encroachment of commercial interests that stagnate the evolution of the creative pillars that act as the foundation of the genre,” wrote Azadi Records (the record label under which the song has been produced) while releasing the single on Youtube.

Ami ‘Birds and the Bees’

Toronto-based Canadian-Tamil artist Ami has a distinct vocal tonality that comes through in his latest R&B single. The song has a bluesy and laidback feel to it, accompanied with his euphonious voice it makes for a great listen on a chill weekend.

Kumail ‘All Night’

Mumbai-based producer and Dj Kumail released Electro-Funk Double A-Side Single All Night in extension of his 2019 album Yasmin’s philosophy. They draw from the same influences — George Benson, Marvin Gaye, Grandmaster Flash, a whole world of Japanese funk — albeit now in a completely different way. They come from a happier place, picking up from where the album (Yasmin) dance tune Ease Up left off. The funk is evident here – especially on the track Without You.

Nuke, Specter & Zero Chill ‘Nukye, There’s a Ghost In the Room!’

Nukye, There’s A Ghost In The Room! is a breakthrough project by Frequency Time Space (FTS) members Nuke, Specter, and Zero Chill. The EP has the rap duo playing their penmanship to the ultimate with deft punchlines, notable hooks and choruses, backed by a one-of-a-kind production by Zero Chill. The project throws light on their ambitions and thoughts, being fashionable with wordplay and lyrical exercises that set the tone for the EP. Both Nuke and Specter complement each other while creating a narrative intertwining pop culture references with their share of witty stories as they glide through the six-track release.

Shan Vincent De Paul ft Ami ‘Amnesia’

Toronto-based Tamil rapper Shan Vincent de Paul has dropped an infectious new single, ‘Amnesia’ featuring another Canadian Tamil artist Ami. ‘Amnesia’ has been released on maajja, the newly-launched, artist-first label alternative by A.R. Rahman. The single touches on the subject of repeating relationship pitfalls due to forgetting the mistakes in the first place, hence “catching amnesia”. “I wanted to create something that had a tinge of 90s nostalgia with a future twist,” says SVDP of the new single.
