Spreading Kindness, Providing Homes: Stray Talk India Provides Free Animal Shelters

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

— Mahatma Gandhi

Among the top few sights that truly dishearten us are animals in need. Creatures that are unable to look out for themselves, out in the scorching heat or the biting cold, with a dearth of food and security, are often also tortured by many.

It is imperative to remember that if someone is providing help to these animals, it may seem like a menial task to help out one or two of them, but to those few animals, it feels as if their whole world has been set right. Following this train of thought is Stray Talk India, founded by Mr Jagjit Singh.

Stray Talk India provides free dog shelters in the Delhi NCR region. These shelters are made of discarded plastic drums or wood fiber drums sourced from scrap dealers or local factories. They are lined with a mattress inside, providing comfort for the dogs. These drums can also be stacked on top of one another.

These houses are assembled and put out for free pick-up. Those who volunteer to look after stray animals can pick these up, and disperse them in their respective localities.

We urge you to draw inspiration from Stray Talk India, not necessarily in terms of providing shelter to stray animals, but to do your small bit. This may be to feed them leftovers, usher them off unsafe roads, or even help them to avoid any sort of harm. Be kind to them, and as Mr Jagjit says, “They will be your best friends for a lifetime.”
