While 2022 carried the baton of prolonged uncertainty initiated by its preceding years, it also brought along with it the unmatched creative energy that continues to dominate the digital realm today. With a slew of independent homegrown artists churning out power-packed and promising releases, these two first months of the year alone are chartering new, unexplored trajectories for the growing music scene in India.

We bring to you artists and their defining releases from the month of February.

I. Love Language by Bhumika Raman (Feat. Kalla Sha & Tintin)

Bangalore-based Bhumika Raman had somewhat of a persona shift in the midst of the pandemic. Her natural flair for performance and music reflects in her experiments with her latest single, Love Language. The song also brings together the refreshing contributions of Kerala-based producer Kalla Sha and Bangalore-based rapper and songwriter, Tintin.

II. Swishes by Micah Bedford

Micah Bedford inched towards the forefront of India’s emerging hip-hop music scene post his debut release, Matte Gloss. In an exciting next endeavour, Micah is set to release his debut EP FLASH WARNING under Export Quality Records. Micah’s effortless flow is complemented by the mastering skills of Amrith Raghunath and the creative prowess of Rohan Johnson who produced visualisers for each of the tracks.

III. Project 78 By Iniko

Kanpur-based rapper Iniko dons many hats. As a producer on the latest Project 78, an album dedicated to the city, the artist has collaborated with various musicians across Kanpur to encapsulate the innumerable stories that the city holds. Bordering along the genres of Hip-hop, R&B and trap, The 8-track EP features artists with distinct voices that marry the collective emotion that the album intends to put forth.

IV. Rap Bhooshanam Cochin Brothers Pvt Ltd By Parimal Shais & MC Couper

Amongst a wave of emerging producers from South-India, Parimal Shais is a household name. Relying on his distinct production style, the artist has once again collaborated with Kerala-based rapper MC Couper on his latest release, Rap Bhooshanam Cochin Brothers Pvt Ltd. The track features striking creative contributions from Hyderabad-based Kalmi on mastering and the directorial finesse of Lendrick Kumar.
