About the WORLD SNEAKER CHAMPIONSHIP
A collaborative effort between premiere design institute, Pensole;, prime sport/ footwear retailer, footlocker & leading performance & sport label, Puma; the world sneaker championship offers the finest designers worldwide, a chance to represent their country. The championship has a multi-tier structure, that allows these top-of-the-line artists to showcase their designs and participate in one out of three categories, colour & material, footwear and apparel design. These distinct channels of competition encourage participation from a diverse stream of design professionals, wherein winners across each category will receive cash prizes, exclusive WACOM design tablets besides bagging a worldwide production and retail deal for their products, with PUMA & Footlocker.
About the SAGE SNEAKER
The individual in Limelight, Disha Vaid, is a distinguished Indian sneaker designer and brand consultant who’s piece funneled her to the top 32 of the contest, overshadowing thousands of contemporary entrants worldwide. Her ground-breaking design-piece titled ‘SAGE’ is a Running / performance sneaker designed for Puma. The idea behind the synthesis of this next-gen piece, is that of injecting the fashion space with themes of ‘consciousness’ , ‘sense of emotion’ & ‘invisible-tech’.
The SAGE is a golden orange & blue hue bearing shoe, tailored for the urban runner who is as swift as the speed of his consciousness. Structure-wise the shoe upper is a smooth textured golden body of 4-way stretch & adaptive air mesh with colour changing properties like an active camouflage. The lower outsole on the other hand is a 3D printed structure crafted out of firm & bouncy materials with self- healing properties; with its heel design representing DNA double-helix structure. The shoe is wrapped in super-fine wires woven into its making, which represent ‘positive energy’ encircling the shoe in their chakra. Last but no the least the shoe tongue is surrounded by a mechanical band that holds the foot firmly.
About The Sage Tracksuit
The SAGE tracksuit, an apparel edition of Disha’s consciousness-inspired sneaker, is a drool-worthy fit that serves both performance & athleisure-oriented consumer. The suit is engineered using a soft, comfortable white mesh body laced with mood-responsive sweat panels with active camouflage properties, zips & pouches that serve design & functional purposes. Characteristic features of this futuristic silhouette include a cowl of humility near the neck-area & a ‘helmet-of-salvation’ style hood to add a monastic & sage-like touch.
