Constructing architecture in a warm and intimate light, Mumbai born and raised Aashti Miller is an architect by day at a design firm in Connecticut and a graphic designer and illustrator by night. Founder of MillerInk, a graphic design and illustration studio, Ashti's drawings are a unique blend of art and architecture. Her distinct style of combining simple yet bold lines with vibrant colors creates a visual narrative that speaks to the viewer on multiple levels.
Though architectural structures are depicted in her art, they're not the centre of it; at least not in the way they're perceived in reality with focus on forms and materials. The buildings in Aashti's illustrations are palpable with an emotional environment. They are a visual representations of a mood of a space, both imaginative and whimsical, characterized by a sense of playfulness.
Her art is condensed and enriched with patterns and characters to a surgical precision. They are lush little worlds that one can spend a good amount of time in diving deeper into the references and symbolism hidden in the labyrinthine imagery. The artist has an eclectic style that combines constructed and painted elements, digital and analogue techniques in addition to being two and three dimensional. For Ashti, her art is a medium to make sense of the unexpected collision of her two seemingly disparate worlds.
Depicting both built and natural environment, Aashti's visually striking and conceptually engaging illustrations also take the shape of murals on buildings both at home and in the States. They are a maximalist dream of humans, animals, homes, food and all the other tangible and intangible things that make life wonderful in a fluid, digital collage.
