For years, the fungal life beneath Bangalore's Lalbagh Botanical Gardens and Cubbon Park has remained largely unseen. Nuvedo, a company commited to unlocking the potential of mushrooms, is on a mission to change that. Their ‘Mushrooms of Uru field guide serves as a portal to this hidden world, one that seeks to educate Bengalureans about the fascinating and vital fungi kingdoms thriving in their midst. While Bengaluru boasts well-documented plant and birdlife, Mushrooms of Uru aims to bridge the gap in understanding the city's fungi ecosystem and the vital role it plays.

Mushrooms of Uru is adorned with captivating illustrations and equipped identification keys designed to engage and empower readers to delve into the captivating world of fungi. But its true purpose lies in fostering a connection between Bangalore's citizens and the unseen networks of fungi that silently sustain the city's urban ecosystems.

The Mushrooms of Uru field guide is a cornerstone of Nuvedo's #IndiasMushroomRevolution initiative. This movement aims to illuminate the significance of fungi and cultivate a deeper appreciation for the natural world. Nuvedo envisions a future where the power of mushrooms is harnessed to bolster both human health and environmental well-being.

This first edition is designed to be a resource for enthusiasts, beginners, and seasoned foragers alike. The guide will equip you with the tools to identify and appreciate the diverse fungi species growing around you. It's a labour of love with countless hours spent researching, documenting, and illustrating each mushroom species and Sanjana Singh's hand-drawn illustrations bring each fungus to life. The collaboration began during one of the team's Urban Foraging Walks.

Beyond the Field Guide, Nuvedo regularly hosts initiatives to acquaint people with the mycelial world through interconnected narratives.  A recent workshop encouraged participants to engage all their senses and develop a profound ecological perception. ‘Queer Encounters in the Mycoverse’, explored the unconventional and often uncomfortable aspects of fungi, drawing parallels between these unusual organisms and themes of gender nonconformity with an aim to foster both a shift in ecological consciousness and an appreciation for the queer and wonderful world of fungi.

Led by a team of mushroom enthusiasts, scientists, and marketing specialists, Nuvedo was founded through a five-year exploration to find a sustainable, nutritious, and versatile food source, and utilizes mushrooms to create high-quality products and services. Their mission is to make these offerings accessible to everyone in India, with the goal of becoming the country's leading mushroom wellness brand. They believe that mushrooms can play a significant role in improving human health and contribute to a more sustainable food system. All their initiatives are designed to invite people to join a community that shares this deep appreciation for the potential of mushrooms.
