“Either you capture the mystery of things, or you reveal it. Everything else is just information.”
- Raghu Rai
The truth of magnum photographer Raghu Rai’s words reflect perfectly well in his intriguing images. Be it the stellar portrait of Dalai Lama in the Himalayas, the image of the eccentric sadhus at the Varanasi ghat or the mind numbing image of the infant in the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Rai captures the character of this country through his visuals like no one else. But there is one place on his list that he still wishes to explore. A place where the Indian mythology comes alive and where in his words “you see camels from here to infinity” and “every yard holds a magical frame to be captured.” The holy city of Pushkar in Rajasthan is where Rai will experience the wonders of life and nature this year and he is inviting 15 budding photographers to be part of this enriching journey with him — behind the lens, through an exclusive workshop.
The intensive five-day photography workshop being organised by The Raghu Rai Foundation of Arts and Photography and Creative Image Magazine will be held at the Pushkar festival from October 30 – November 3. 15 selected photographers will get an opportunity to shoot the festival in Rajasthan with Rai in an attempt to build their portfolio, achieve their
‘visual signature’, and polish their editing skills with the maestro.
Every evening, post the shoot an editing exercise will be held where participants will pick five of the best images of the day. On the fifth day, all the selected images will be combined in a little booklet. Participants interested in applying need to put together a portfolio of 15 of their best images and email it to submission@creativeimagemagazine.com along with a cover letter and CV.
The last date to apply is October 7. For more details on the fess, and the submission of application visit Creative Image Magazine’s website here.
