16-Year-Old Vadodara Girl Just Secured Her Pilot License

Age is no barrier for this young girl to achieve her dreams. At the age of 16, Varija Shah of Vadodara, Gujarat is probably one of the youngest Indians to receive a pilot’s license, reported the Times of India.

Still two years away from being able to get even  a two-wheeler license, Shah has managed to get her student pilot license after training for a little over a year.

Speaking to TOI, the ambitious teenager said “My dad always dreamt of becoming a pilot and that’s how I got fascinated with flying. My parents were supportive of my decision, so I joined Gujarat Flying Club last year. It was a one-year course that included ground training, theory classes and flying plane on simulator.”

Varija  insists that she wants to get a private pilot’s license, join the NCC and go on further to join the Air Force. Huffington Post reported that she flew a Cessna 152 over Vadodara for 20 minutes, as the co-pilot on 17 October, the day she turned 16.

The youngster has proved to be quite multi-talented as she is also a national level tennis champion. Shah’s mother revealed that she to be a tennis player while Varija’s father wanted to be a pilot and so her daughter has come to fulfill both their dreams.
