By now, we have realised the importance of vaccination against COVID-19 –– our strongest chance of beating the virus and overcoming this phase of immense devastation.
To tackle the issue of crowding at vaccination centres and the inability to get more people vaccinated, Mumbai has set a precedence by opening Maharashtra’s first drive-in vaccination centre. According to The Tribune, the first such centre was set up in the Dadar area of Mumbai where citizens above 60 years of age can get vaccinated by appointment –– they are meant to be accompanied by an attendant who must be the one driving.
Now, the city is geared to set up seven more such centres in each of its administrative regions, possibly within 24 hours, as reported by NDTV –– these will be set up in open grounds such as Shivaji Stadium, Oval Maidan and more.
The Hindustan Times reported that following the success of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, too, plans on introducing drive-in vaccination centres in parking lots of the city.
Homegrown urges you to register for the vaccine at the earliest –– the best vaccine is the available one.
Also, do not forget to take a little extra care of yourself in these dire times. We hope you find your small bouts of courage to get you through these days, one at a time.
