There’s little room left to impress when it comes to the gourmand at heart (and stomach) in Delhi. Sated with chains building on consumerism, overrunning old-school locales like Priya Market and more, sometimes it is the smallest of places that make the biggest impact. Sure, we still have our Nirula’s and Kent’s but sometimes, you just want to treat yourself to the finer things in life — a prime facet of AKU’S - The Brrgrr Co.’s food philosophy. Giving us serious Riverdale vibes with their Pop Tate’s-like menu replete with milkshakes, fries and burgers, it’s no wonder they’re becoming a fast favourite.
A fairly new player to the game, AKU’S is already making waves in Delhi. Their bright yellow decor further complimented by their quirky creatives (that even inform one on how to take down a glorious burger) may be the initial highlight but once you get a look at their menu, you’re going to find little time to pay attention to anything else. From the magnificent Master Wu (Wild Mushroom, Caramelized Onions, Jalapeño Spread) to the ever-popular Meister (Lamb, Bacon, Fried Egg, Caramelized Onions, A-Sauce), their menu may not be the most expansive but boy, have they mastered every burger on it so far.
Unsurprisingly, they’ve been dubbed Delhi’s answer to Shake Shack and In-N-Out, due to their similar all-American cuisine that hardly ever disappoints. Our current favourite is their Chalapeño but given that we’re going to be visiting each time we’re back in the capital, that’s bound to change. The Chalapeño (Grilled Chicken, Peppers, Jalapeños and Jalapeño spread) balances spice with flavour, ensuring your mouth isn’t (entirely) on fire, allowing you to enjoy the burger for what it is — a beautiful, perfectly-sized, dome shaped blessing from above. To be fair though, The Meister and The Clydes-dale are close seconds.
If we were you, we’d get our hands on one of their delicious combos and make a proper meal out of it; unless of course you’re tempted to go with their Truffle Fries over the Classic. We won’t blame you.
