Celebrate Rosh Hashanah With A Real Jewish Feast - This Weekend Only

In honour of Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) Cafe Zoe in Lower Parel has curated an exclusive menu celebrating an authentic feast.

Rosh Hashanah is observed for two days - this year, the 21st and 22nd of September - but they will serving this limited menu until Sunday 24th so there’s no reason to miss out. Food plays a large part in Rosh Hashanah celebrations with many dishes that are steeped in symbolism, Chef Viraf Patel has carefully designed the menu to reflect this traditional, experience.

Begin your meal with some challah (a circular bread that symbolises the circle of life) and apples soaked in honey to ensure a sweet New Year. Now on to the real feast, starting with Kreplach, a clear soup with chicken dumplings, potato latkes with sour cream and gefilte fish - a poached mixture of ground deboned fish may be an acquired taste. The Cholent (pronounced ‘Tchoulent’) is a must try, a rich tenderloin stew with beans, potatoes and egg and the seared salmon with tomato and capers should definitely make it to your table. Pomegrante also features heavily across the menu in the couscous salad and the roasted lamb in molasses as the many seeds are a portent of a fruitful future.

If after all this you have a little space left over round out your feasting with a delicate honey cake with poached pears and ice cream.
