If you have a pet, you know you’ve pondered the lack of pet-friendly spaces in our cities more times than you can count. While it’s nice to take your dogs to the park (when permitted) or the seafront, it’s a completely different experience to enjoy a nice meal at a café with the actual love of your life (because let’s face it, pets over humans any day).

While we don’t have very many spaces yet for our furry friends, news from the capital this morning tells us that Delhi is all set to open its first pet-friendly café called Puppychino. The café will open on April 16 at Shahpur Jat and will cater to dogs, cats, and accompanying humans.

Puppychino was started by sisters Mallika and Nayani Tandon. “We thought of the cafe because we felt that there was a lack of space for our own dogs, Bobo and Simba. Also, we’re super passionate about animals and we wish to change the perception that people in India have towards animals through this venture,” said Mallika.

Food, of course, is a primary concern since all pets are basically bottomless pits and are hungry 24x7. Keeping that in mind, Puppychino will serve pancakes, muffins and whole meals all specially crafted for pets. As for the humans, they can pick from a selection of pizza, pasta, shakes, mezze platters and more.

While it’s definitely going to be a great place to hang out with your pets and get them to socialise with other pets, Puppychino doesn’t just stop at socialising. You can even book out the entire place for your pet’s birthday and keep a tight leash on the guestlist. And yes, of course there will be cake.
Before you think Puppychino is only for those who have pets, it’s not. It’s open to everyone. Even an unaccompanied human can enter. Moreover, he or she can play with the in-house mascots Bobo the labrador, and Simba the husky making it an even greater place for those who love animals but aren’t able to actually keep one at home for whatever reason.
Sadly, opening day is all booked out but you can fill out this form to visit on April 17.
