Residents of Mumbai aren’t strangers to a longing for some breathing space in their over-crowded, chaotic city. Thus when one of these longings happen to overlap with a long weekend, they don’t think twice before taking their overworked sleep-deprived minds for a short spin of stress-free debauchery in the sun and sand of Goa. In fact, Mumbai and Goa are so intricately linked that there are movies made, books written, and songs sung about their iconic relationship. Taking things to another level was the reported inauguration of India’s first-of-its-kind passenger cruise ship that was to sail for trial from the newly made domestic terminal in Mumbai’s port and ended its journey in Goa on May 24, 2018. The cruise services was reported to begin for the public in September earlier this year, and as confirmed by Angriya Sea Eagle Pvt Ltd, the company running the service, it will set sail finally on October 11.

The result of a joint venture between Mumbai Port Trust and Angriya Sea Eagle Pvt Ltd., the cruise will depart from Mumbai at 5 PM and arrive in Goa at 9 AM the following day. The cost to make this coveted journey will start at Rs 7000 per person. This will include a brunch and two meals. However, with eight different kinds of restaurants and twenty-four-hour coffee shops to choose from, one is bound to be spoilt for choice. There are plenty of activities that the passenger can indulge in apart from gazing at the breath-taking vistas of the Arabian sea. One of them is taking a plunge in the swimming pool that lies right on the deck. According to a report in Business Today, the cruise also offers amenities for the passenger to educate themselves on the region’s history and some interesting trivia. The cruise is said to accommodate around 350 passengers.

Cruise tourism is an important tool to boost the economy, and the Government really couldn’t have picked a better route, to begin with. There are multiple other projects in the making to establish sea routes connecting Mumbai to other Indian and even Southeast Asian countries. But as of now, you know exactly where to go for the long weekends in the upcoming months, and exactly how to get there.
