Grab Some Chopsticks - Shiro’s Ramen And Sushi Trail Looks Delightful

The Japanese have always boasted of a high life expectancy, a fact that science has proven stems from the nation’s healthy diet. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise then that sushi, a dish considered a novelty here, is almost relegated to fast food status there. So, fellow Mumbai foodies, toss those salads away, because we’ve found just the place to get delicious, healthy, soulful Japanese food (that will apparently add to your lifespan, but not your waistband).

Shiro, a high-end lounge bar in Worli, has decided to take two wholesome favourites from their Japanese menu, and dedicate a whole food trail to it. Otherwise known for serving up the best Pan-Asian fare around that side of town, the ‘Ramen and Sushi Trails’ menu that Chef Rahul Hajarnavis has set up, promises to delight your tastebuds. With offerings for both, the veggies among us and the hardcore meat-lovers, the menu incorporates several crowd favourite ingredients — mushrooms, tofu, seafood, poultry, pork, accompanied by wheat noodles.

Although the meals remain traditionally Japanese, Chef Rahul tends to borrow flavours from other Asian cuisines, a trait shown strongly in the Korean Kimchi Ramen, a spiced Korean broth, and the Spicy Chicken Laksa Ramen. Laksa, a curry that boasts of a rich coconut base, stems from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

The sushi menu too, offers a delectable array, that deviates from your standard sushi options. From Truffled Mushrooms & Cream Cheese Maki (psst, if you’re a fan of truffles, we’ve got a list for you) to Seared Ponzu Tuna Sushi With Beetroot Relish, Shiro is clearly a fan of new flavours, and soon, you will be too.
