Vidhi Gandhi is quite possibly one of the best musical exports from India, who isn’t actually a musician. When she first started working at Blue Frog as a programmer, one of the country’s most legendary venues, she was hardly more than a teenager but her motivation has been unparalleled in her upward climb ever since and her work spoke volumes. Unsurprisingly, she might have been a little ahead of her time for us though so it wasn’t long before she headed over to London only to end up programming for ‘Village Underground.’ For the uninitiated, it happens to be one of the most renowned venues in the world, known for its penchant for constantly pushing the boundaries of creativity and culture. And as far as their music curation goes, it probably doesn’t get more progressive than this.

During her time there, she’s gone elbow-to-elbow with some some of the most incredible artists around, booking everyone from Little Dragon to Ben Frost to Bonobo and more. And her rather dynamic skill set hardly ends there. In addition to her fantastic curation skills, she’s also racked up a reputation for running multi-platform marketing campaigns, brand development for venues, artists and much, much more and if we’re honest, it’s the entire musical connect that drove us to her for playlist curating purposes.

She kept her words on her selection succinct:

“All songs I have on loop regularly and all songs close to my heart!”

Scroll on to navigate the musical map of her world.

I. Nils Frahm- Familiar

I’ve had this track get me through some pretty rough days so it’s definitely got a special place in my heart! Plus Nils is one of my favourite musician’s on the planet. He’s so intense and amazing live

II. Matias Aguayo (Koze Mix) - Minimal : For when I’m being an iTunes DJ in my living room! Absolute gem.

III. Serge Gainsbourg- Melody : I was introduced to the wonderful world of Serge Gainsbourg on a date! The entire record (Histoire de Melody Nelson) is a little bit sexy, isn’t it? Ha!

IV. Caribou- Gebre : Favourite song to cruise to. If we’re driving to the English countryside, I’ll have this on loop.

V. Lana Del Rey - Ultraviolence : I was never a Lana fan. But then I stood right in front of her face at a festival and she was absolutely brilliant and I have to say. I’ve been converted. New record is cooool and she’s a bit stunning, isn’t she.

VI. Motor City Drum Ensemble - Raw Cuts 3 : Someone dropped this in a dark room with a hectic soundsystem one night and I lost my sh*t!

VII. Seun Kuti - Higher Consciousness : AH-MAY-ZING. SPECTACULAR LIVE.

VIII. Janet Jackson (Kaytranada mix) - If : I don’t know anyone who doesn’t break into dance when this gets played. My mate knows the moves from the original music video too so it’s a big one when we’re pre-gaming. Plus Kaytranada is awesome.

IX. Four Tet- Unspoken : Unspoken is pretty therapeutic. It’s what I listen to on the tube during rush hour to stay calm.

X. Adult Jazz - Am Gone : Band of the moment! My lazy Sunday sitting in the couch replying to emails song. And the singer is bloody great.

XI. Toro Y Moi- So Many Details : My winter’s day song. Probably cos that’s when I saw this band? I even cried at the show, that’s how good they were.
