Melody takes precedence with this brother duo Ashwin Babu Rao (AKA Inferno) and Ashrith Babu Rao, both of whom share a mutual passion for music, whose tunes have struck at a chord with those believe in the sanctity of life and music. Their brainchild Audio Units, born when they began collaborating two years ago, is pretty indiscriminate when it comes to different realms of music, with eclectic influences evident in their own medley of various styles of house music, dramatised with rich sounds and organic layers with riveting melodies holding up fat basslines.

DJ Inferno (Ashwin) has carved a veritable place for himself in the electronic dance music space in the country, having played at some of the most prestigious festivals and venues across the country over the course of his 10-year career, while Ashrith is a self-taught musician who chose a serious career in music over school, and together - obsessed with quality, soul and futurism-  they create their unique sound that is high on energy, and unafraid to develop complex structures to push the boundaries of the listeners’ sonic palettes.

As Audio Units, the duo showcases a darker, more underground sound that is highly hypnotic, peppered with glitchy grooves, intelligent programming and basslines to push floor-shuffler to wall-crawler. This style is dancefloor-friendly without once losing the audience’s attention and Audio Units has, over many years, created an impressive discography that ties up the loose ends between outlandish themes and subtle harmonies, that has been released on both Indian and International labels such as Qilla Records, Wind Horse Records, 3AM, SpringTube, Bermudos and many more.

Audio Units has shared the stage with a diverse spectrum of dance music acts in the past and their distinctive live act is a performance of their own tracks, improvised with effects, loops, sampled vocals adding a fresh vibe while maintaining its familiarity.

This is what they had to say about this set: “Some sounds that have influenced our own in the past years. Rusty jazz from 1994 to slick modern funk & soul, goes out to  showcase music that caress the neurons and melt our hearts. Hope you enjoy our little experiment.”
