Bangalore-based musician Rumit Virmani a.k.a Kampai is an electronic artist whose music has a heavy emphasis influences on bass culture. A trap enthusiast, Kampai’s quirky style also stretches across genres such as Jersey club, Twerk, Drum and Bass and Footwork.

He’s shared the stage with the likes of Herobust (USA), Ganz (Netherlands), Slugabed (UK), Chimpo (UK) and Epic Empire (France) and has performed at every noteworthy venue and festival across the country. Aside from music, he has also been hard at work advancing the Indian music scene as the Culture Manager at Social Offline pioneering and introducing properties such as BASSICK Sense and The Grind. He - along with Ketan a.k.a Oceantied and Jayanth a.k.a the Sine Painter - plays a pivotal role in Hybrid Cycle, a collective to push underground music in Bangalore and India.

His music is influenced by artists across the board including Rustie, AWE, Hudson Mohawke, Dub Phizix, Flume, Graves and BeauDamian to name a few. The full list spans into the hundreds but no matter how many people have inspired him, Kampai tries to be truly original every time he takes the stage.

What he has to say about his set: “These are the sounds I have been digging at the moment, it ranges all the way from 130bpm to 180bpm, most of them being sub-bass music genres like Trap, Future beats, Grime, Footwork and D&B. This mix also features Indian artists like Oceantied and Sickflip. I am also listening to a lot of 4 to the floor-centric music recently but still wanted to make a bass heavy set just for the HG peeps.”
