Bharg Kale x Rawal x Calm x Raga ‘Jungli Kutta’

There is something about a high-energy freestyle rap that forces you to pay attention to it, ‘Jungli Kutta’, the first single from the upcoming rapper RAWAL x music composer Bharg album, Sab Chahiye, is one such track. Released earlier last week, the single features lyrics by Rawal, Calm and Raga, and music composition by Bharg. Calm, who is known for his spitting lyricism, adds to the rap with Bharg Kale’s music production that keeps getting better with every new track he releases. The rap also subtly touches upon certain social issues.

Rono ‘Postcards’

Singer-songwriter Rono released two singles from his Postcards EP. Both the singles, ‘Lost & Lonely’ and ‘High Enough’ are acoustic pop numbers with honest lyricism and soft guitar strumming in the background. Rono’s soft vocals add to a sense of intimacy and bear semblance to American singer-songwriter Jason Mraz’s early music. The EP art with Rono in a dark room with his guitar and introspectively staring away from the camera further adds to that sense of vulnerability.

There is an undeniable attraction and tension when you first start falling for someone – the feeling of being caught in a whirlwind of stolen glances, brief hand touches, and sneaking kisses is well-known and well treasured by all. It is this sense of love that New Delhi based singer-songwriter, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, captures in her latest collaboration with musician Aman Sagar. The pop RnB ballad ‘Khoya Sa’ has a retro-esque feel to you with even the album art bearing semblance to an 80s music poster.

With sitar and crunchy bass and guitar, the track fuses elements of retro with the modern. Aman Sagar’s almost funk sound seamlessly blends with Sanjeeta’s melodious voice adding to the sense of a nostalgic retro number with a contemporary twist.

Sayantika Ghosh ‘Extraordinary Love’

Singer-songwriter Sayantika Ghosh’s single from EP Yesterday Forever is an exploration of love. With a montage of personal videos playing, the video lends the single a nostalgic feel. While releasing the song on their social media, they said that it is, “a song that says love is imperfect, unexpected and undefined. It is so beyond our control that it can never be tamed into something ‘normal’ or ‘socially acceptable.’”
