After Hyderabad, Gurgaon is all set to get its very own IKEA store. With furniture to suit all tastes will now be available in the National Capital Region. Founded in 1943, the Swedish company has its retail outlets across the globe and is now looking to expand to India with a series of stores across the country. Not just for adults, IKEA is famous for retailing a variety of affordable furniture designed for kids and pets as well!
The IKEA Food department will also bring their completely sustainable model of production and the most iconic dishes with them in the move. Their menu will be adapted to include some Indian favourites but will retain the iconic Swedish meatballs that are the IKEA hallmark. There are also plans to ship fresh Salmon directly from Norway, so people can experience a true Scandinavian meal.
The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) had put up a piece of commercial land in Sector 47, measuring 9.82 acres for auction on October 6, the Times of India reported. On October 31st, the multinational furnishings brand bought it for INR 842 crore. Huda’s chief administrator J Ganesan told Hindustan Times that “Gurugram has seen a reduced demand, mainly due to the rapidly changing investment scenario in real estate, especially in the commercial section. However, we are hopeful of selling more properties and generating a good revenue for Huda from the estates of Gurugram.”
