In Kalyan, Political Hoardings Are Mocked With A Dog’s Birthday

Moving around Mumbai it’s pretty hard to miss the political hoardings that are scattered around, often to wish leaders on their birthdays and others to wish us, citizens on various religious festivals. There they loom at every corner, 20 feet high, smiling down with the beatitude of a lecherous miscreant in the back of a white van. They’re pretty gaudy, to say the least, and even though they aren’t really allowed they still dot our cityscape in all their garish glory.

With these amoral installations bearing down on them every time they stepped out their front doors, residents of Kalyan East finally had enough. Taking a jab at the political banners, they picked a more amicable face to line their streets and put up a very special hoarding – wishing ‘Max Bhai’ a very happy birthday. We should clarify that Max is a dog.

Spotted by Rishikesh Choudhary of Hindustan Times at Netivali chowk, the hilarious hoarding is spot on in its design and layout with not just a picture of fictional ‘Max’ but he’s also accompanied by his ‘party members’ and their photographs. Joining him on the banner are Tyson Bhai, Prince Bhai, and Danger Bhai among others, each with their own special designations.

Now, this is definitely a political party that we can get on board with. Kudos to all the Kalyan residents for this stellar piece of work. Here’s hoping our local leaders will finally take a hint.
