Independence Day comes as a welcome relief to indie and alternate music stans country-wide. Major collaborations from notable indie artists are slated to drop on the 15th of August, only to be complimented by boxout.fm’s largest online curation, fondly titled ‘Indie as Fuck’.
Brainchild of music curator, Mohammed Abood (Dj MoCity) and Sahej Bakshi (Dualist Inquiry), Boxout.fm is an online community radio station based in New Delhi, India. Born out of the need for a community-run platform and founded in April 2017, the radio network’s popularity has quickly mushroomed over the years. Its tasteful curation and fresh take on music-programming have fetched the platform widespread acclaim amidst both the music fraternity as well as India’s rapidly evolving alternate music landscape.
In alignment with their ethos of promoting alternative and Indie music in the country, ‘Indie as fuck’ is boxout’s artsy take on India’s Independence-day celebration. Dropping in form of a 24-hour audio-broadcast, Indie as fuck is Boxout’s way of showcasing the sheer brilliance and growth in diversity of sounds, the country has witnessed over the past decade. It’s a means to celebrate the depth and range of sonic styles that have emerged from across the sub-continent in recent years and to encourage the radio network’s audience to have an ‘at-home gig’ experience, amidst the pandemic.
