New Delhi’s rising pollution levels are the talk of the hour. While shocking effects of the Capital’s bad air quality are making it to the headlines every day, pictures of smog-infused roads and parks are being circulated on WhatsApp messages like heralds of an impending man-made disaster. In such a scenario, Gurugram’s ingenious solution to combat the polluting efflux is a whiff of fresh air.
To provide citizens with a space far removed from the hazardous particulate matter, - where they can finally rid themselves of the vogmask...at least for a little while - Gurugram has introduced an oxygen chamber, as reported by India Times. The first of its kind and located adjacent to the Huda City Centre metro station, the chamber is an enclosed area along with a garden space that has beautiful landscapes, plenty of greenery, and several anti-polluting plants. Working in tandem, these elements, especially the anti-polluting plants, reduce the toxicity levels of the ambient air. In consequence, the space is a haven with abundant oxygen supply in the pollution-packed National Capital Region (NCR).
Spread over a whopping 13,000 square feet area, the chamber also houses a nursery, along with a green house where visitors can buy plants, reported the Times of India. While a dedicated oxygen room ensures that its occupants breathe as much of the life-giving element as possible, the outdoor lawn is perfect to sit back and relax, meditate, or practise yoga. The space was a joint effort of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation along with Nurturing Green, an NCR-based company. Here’s hoping that New Delhi and NCR receive several more spaces like this one, to relieve the citizens of the pollution that is escalating relentlessly and threatens all life in the capital.
