While his music may have transcended boundaries and borders to reach us, singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran for a significant portion of his career produced music that resonated with the universal feelings of being in love, falling out of love, and all the other ordeals that encapsulate this journey. A generation of music listeners in India have spent a significant portion of their growing up and teenage years on a steady diet of his music and it helped articulate to a certain extent the emotions we felt when words failed.
Expanding on his connect with the country, the singer has recently collaborated with Indian lyricist, songwriter Armaan Malik on a unique spin-off to 2Step, a track that was originally released on his 2021 album ‘Equal’.
Marking Malik’s second international collaboration, following his debut with American producer KSHMR, this is a riveting spin on the original track that speaks of the trials and tribulations of being an artist. The track marks one of the biggest pop collaborations India has embarked on in recent years, particularly with an international artist such as Ed Sheeran himself.
Speaking of the track, Armaan reveals, “This song talks about confidence, finding power in your art, and leaning on your loved ones. When we have the support of the people we love, we can overcome any adversity. Nothing can keep us from moving forward. Two steps at a time!”
2Step by Ed Sheeran featuring Armaan Malik went live on the 7th of June, 2022
