Nothing beats a traditional Pork Roast lining your dinner table or some rum infused fruit cake for tea, Christmas is all about letting loose the inner glutton sans the guilt! While a lucky few in Mumbai might have the good fortune of a home-cooked Christmas feast, some are left craving that special holiday season meal to no avail. If you belong to the latter half of the equation don’t fret because like every year we have you covered.
Our list of 6 Mumbai-based restaurants offering special Christmas menus have been meticulously curated to give you only the best of the season’s culinary delights. This year from a a lavish butterball Roast American Turkey to a Carrot Pudding done with a twist of Toffee, these holiday-special menus are akin to the presents from the food Gods themselves. If you are looking for a boozy Christmas we also churned some festive cocktails like the Christmas Punch; a heady concoction that involves some of our favourite dark liquors. What’s more is that we have a menu for every kind of Christmas party with buffet, take-out and small plates and even a secret supper! So without further ado, it’s time to scroll down and chalk out those weekend plans to give yourself a taste of a very merry Christmas!
I. Bombay Canteen
Address: Kamala Mills, Lower Parel
Menu Availability: 18th-31st December
Inspired by traditional Christmas feasts across India, this menu is curated as a nostalgic tribute to celebrations at the homes of various Christian communities across the country. There are six thoughtfully picked delicacies; each from a different region in the country. For the meat lover the menu is complete with the succulent Goan Beef Olives stuffed with bacon and caramelised onions, to the more exotic Galho & Pork-Rice porridge all the way from Nagaland that is served with a house-made sweet chilli chutney. To satisfy your sweet tooth you can indulge in Delhi’s Anglo- Indian style Dilli Carrot Toffee Pudding; candied winter carrots, roasted cashews and drizzled with tamarind toffee sauce! If you are looking for some Christmas ‘spirits’ the bartenders have stirred up specials too. Christmas Milk Punch with a shot of Jim Beam, brandy, milk and some nutmeg and cinnamon and a Good Ole Eggnog with dark rum, cinnamon, vanilla and cream to warm thing up. For a desi-style Christmas meal you can completely depend on the restaurant that has proved to be impeccable in both taste and style time after time.

II. Café Zoe

If you are looking for a traditional sit-down Christmas dinner in a large group of friends and family, preferably in the comforts of your home this special take-out menu is perfect for you. They have a range of slow roasted meats from a simple yet delicious Chicken to a more lavish Butterball Full American Turkey. The other meats on the menu are Belgian style cooked suckling pig and a whole roasted duck. Each roast comes with a choice of four sides-you can take your pick from a wide range that includes cream spinach, potato and leek gratin, french beans with roasted garlic and a roasted sweet potato salad amongst many more. In the spirit of Christmas they also have surprise presents for you; desserts which will be on the house! Hurry up and gather that Christmas party for they require a 24 hours notice for pre-orders while they give a 10% discount if you are dining in!

III. O Pedro!

This special menu is here to bring alive every aspect of Goan culture; the old, the new, the borrowed and the brewed. To keep the festive spirit going this menu unwraps a special Christmas delicacy each day starting December. Have a merry spoonful of Boodie’s Shrimp Pilaf served with Prawn Wafers, tuck into some delicious Pork “Assado” with a side of Crispy Crackling or the Braised Lamb Chop “Aad Maas”with Red Rice Sannas. For a drunken Christmas night pop in pop in to sip on some Christmas Milk Punch; a concoction of Jim Beam, milk, cream, brandy, cinnamon and nutmeg. This is your place for a hail and hearty Christmas-the Goan way.

IV. Irish House

If like us Christmas is about indulgence of all kinds then this holiday season buffet is sure to make you merry with unlimited helpings!. From the carving station there is Honey Glazed Roasted Chicken or Turkey Ham or you can try their deliciously fresh sweet crepes like Grilled Fish with Wine Sage Butter Sauce. If you are going the healthy way they also have a wide range of salads and breads; Glazed Chicken Sausages and CousCous Salad, Ham and aged Cheddar salad with a slice of Spiced Apple Loaf or crunchy Almond Cranberry Bread amongst lots more. For the mains there is Lamb Goulash and Pan Seared Fish with Leek to be paired with White Port Wine Sauce. Keeping it traditional there for sweet treats there are Cranberry Almond Pound Cake and the Gingerbread Crinkle Cookies. They also have a special menu if you are looking to dine in with the kids!

V. Slink And Bardot

To beat the noisy celebrations in the city head to this quaint little villa-turned restaurant tucked away in a discreet lane of town for a quiet yet delightful Christmas. Offered-up in their signature small plate style the menu focuses on French classics like Sunchoke Soup, Winter Vegetable Tourte and, Baby Lobster Theromidor. A must try on the menu is the special Duck a L’Orange and the delicious desserts - Strawberry 4 Ways with Coconut Dacquoise, Pistachio Tuile, Tonka Foam and the Macaron XL Noel with 72% dark chocolate. To accompany the meal there are Christmas classic cocktails with a twist including a Brandied Egg Nog with Tonka Mousse, Mulled Wine Sangria and Sparkling Christmas Punch and the Christmas Cosmo and a very special Gingerbread Old-Fashioned crafted with Ardbeg, gingerbread syrup and cinnamon bitters. This is a Parisian Christmas meal like no other!

VI. Bastian

For those of you who would like to party it out on Christmas eve or simply stay home with family Bastian offers delicious festive special brunch! Lamb Meat Balls, Orange Glazed Pork Tenderloin, Steak and Eggs accompanied with a variety of sides like home fries and roasted chestnut hash will make an appearance for a hearty meal. Their Salt + Sugar section has a mouthwatering treat; Chicken and Waffles with spiced cranberry gastrique, sweet potato butter and lemon in true Christmas spirit. For the purely sugar cravings Cinnamon Roll French Toast, complete with orange sugar glaze, candied nuts and fall spices awaits you! If you are looking for a bit of a boozy afternoon fear not their festive like cocktails like Under the Mistletoe; sparkling wine mixed with a dash of vanilla and cranberry syrup or their Chocolate Eggnog made with Captain Morgan, dark chocolate, egg, vanilla, honey and nutmeg amongst others will not disappoint you. VII. Secret Supper
The Secret Supper Project holds one dinner a month at undisclosed Mumbai locations. Their highly experienced chefs typically serve six to eight courses, focusing on dishes that aren’t easily available in Mumbai. For the holiday season they have a Christmas supper organised with a double element of surprise; a mysterious venue and secret santa gifts that each guest must bring! All we know is that this champagne brunch is going to have a unlimited helpings of merriment!
