There’s something pretty impressive going on when a sentences on a page can lead your imagination down a path that leaves you hot under the collar. But toeing the line between steamy and sleazy can be a dangerous game, one that sometimes requires a guiding hand to navigate successfully. Enter Aastha Atray Banan. Tomorrow afternoon at the Cuckoo Club in Bandra she’s hosting a masterclass on how to keep your writing classy.
Aastha is a jack of all trades when it comes to literature and has been a successful author of romance and erotic fiction for many years. She authored India’s second Mills & Boon, His Monsoon Bride. She also wrote Games Girls Play and Crave. She works with Sunday Midday as a features writer and had also worked with publications such as Open magazine, Tehelka, HT Brunch, DNA and Asian Age. And currently she’s working on her non-fiction book with Masaba Gupta called The Masaba Print.
In this workshop she’ll have you address your issues around creating and honing the art of the erotic and show you the ropes of what people are looking for in erotic fiction. The workshop is being hosted by the popular Mumbai group Books On Toast a space where the city’s bibliophiles congregate to celebrate their love of literature. The erotic literature workshop is one of many that they’re hosting at the Cuckoo Club in the upcoming months so if this isn’t your cup of tea there are plenty to choose from. This is the perfect opportunity to get out your notebooks and get started on your first great novel.
