Diwali brings with it the promise of joyous family gatherings, rich, comforting Indian food, new clothes and of course, a nice long weekend. However, for those of us who can’t make it home for the festivities, the city has a multitude of opportunities right from events, plays, dinners and more to pass your time — unless you’d rather leave the city behind for a little celebration of your own. Picture a serene backdrop; green, undulating hills, a lake you can take a dip in, a crackly warm bonfire, all set to the smooth tunes of some Indo-Jazz.

Camp Deogadh is hosting their very first Sunset Session this weekend with the Rajeev Raja Combine, known for organically fusing elements of jazz, Indian classical, Latin and world music. The getaway is spread across two days and one night, with food aplenty. Think camping under the stars, singing around a bonfire, taking some time out to sit back and enjoy the sun set as the Rajeev Raja Combine start churning out their tunes. The entire experience begins on October 21 at 4pm, at Camp Deogadh. Guests will be greeted with refreshments and then allocated their tent. The event will begin at 5:30pm, at the Deck of Deogadh the Homestay, a two minute walk from the campsite, followed by a barbeque dinner and a merry adlib music session around the campfire.

If you’re an early riser, feel free to take a walk around and do some bird watching. Better yet, take a dip in Lake Pawna! Breakfast will be served around 9am, after which the event ends at 11.30am. The event amounts to INR 2,999 per person, inclusive of everything except travel. Students can avail of a 10% discount.
