Imagine spending a day surrounded by creativity, where every corner you turn offers something new and unexpected. One moment you’re watching a sculptor turn scrap metal into towering art, the next you’re trying your hand at screen printing, or maybe getting lost in the beat of a live DJ set. It’s not a gallery or a concert or a workshop — it’s all of that mixed together.

That’s exactly what The Artworks Experience promises on October 19 at Pioneer Hall in Bandra. It’s a space where artists, musicians, and creators come together to showcase their work and invite you to be part of it. From interactive art sessions to live performances, this event is about breaking down the barriers between artist and audience. Whether you’re looking to get your hands dirty in a workshop, relax with some music, or just see something new, this day-long experience offers a little bit of everything for everyone. The ethos of The Artworks Experience is rooted in collaboration. It offers you an intimate view into the hearts and minds of creators.

A prominent name in Indian sculpture, Arzan Khambatta brings his architectural prowess to the forefront. With public works ranging from Mumbai’s traffic islands to international art galleries, Khambatta’s sculptures have become iconic markers of urban spaces. His signature metalworks, inspired by scrap material, challenge perceptions of art and utility.

For those seeking introspection through creation, Tianna Khambatta’s meditative wire-sculpting workshop offers a mindful reprieve from the bustle of everyday life. You’ll engage in the soothing practice of wire-bending.

Sound is integral to the experience, as Harbour Dubs and TITO+ take you through sonic explorations across genres from dubstep and reggae to electronic and jazz. Harbour Dubs’ vinyl sets add a raw energy to the afternoon, while TITO+’s audiovisual landscapes offer a more atmospheric experience.

Ankit Verma’s performance art delves into human emotions, blending theatre with the digital age. His collaboration with TITO+ and Humhu on Boys Will Be Toys stretches the boundaries of masculinity, examining its fluidity.

If design is your preferred language, Indo/Anglo will resonate deeply. Gary and Liam Curzai use their work to express the often conflicted identity of growing up in two cultures — India and the UK. Their design studio focuses on cross-cultural expressions, emphasizing the importance of art in connecting with people. On the other side of the spectrum is Dirty Hands Co., a printmaking collective encouraging hands-on participation.

Local artist and urban chronicler Shormistha Mukherjee takes you on a historical journey through Bandra. Her exhibit blends architecture, culture, and oral histories to capture the changing landscape of the neighborhood.

For those drawn to abstract art, Sushisurge offers intricate, urban-inspired canvases and geoscapes that explore modernity. Visual artist Sahilfromnature transports us to the surreal, with works that challenge our perception of reality, blending traditional techniques with digital experimentation.

Kommune adds a personal touch to The Artworks Experience with spoken word performances and a poetry circle workshop. The focus on vulnerability and community-building makes it unlike the traditional writer’s workshop.

Art isn’t limited to visuals and performances here. Charoli Foods will host a limited-seating dining experience inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Malwa, offering a five-course tasting menu that brings Indian heritage to the plate.

At its core, The Artworks Experience is more than just an event — it’s a celebration of artistic diversity and collaboration. From the meditative to the avant-garde, from the hyperlocal to the universal, this event invites you to dive into creativity with an open heart.

The Artworks Experience is organised by Artworks — a multi-disciplinary curation of experiences that spotlight Indian creativity. Attend on October 19, 2024 at Pioneer Hall, Bandra.
