Delhi, Get These Authentic Northeastern Thalis Delivered To Your Doorstep
Chaminnasi

Northeast India is a whole other world when it comes to regional cuisine. Against the trend followed in most Indian delicacies, here, recipes don’t rely on the heavy use of spices, but on elaborated forms of preparation. Many dishes are fermented or dried for long periods of time in order to acquire the correct taste; and it’s common to serve sour and bitter plates in the same meal, where the lack of seasonings is compensated by the use of organic vegetables, throat-ripping chillis, and a wide range of exotic fruits and meats.

Drooling already? Well, situated in GTB Nagar is Chaminnasi, a delivery-only restaurant that brings these traditional flavors of the northeast to the national capital. From Monday to Sunday, all days except Tuesday, Delhiites can get a taste of true home-cooked Arunachali, Assamese and Naga cuisine that you can enjoy in the comfort of your homes. They only serve thalis, and everyday there’s a different selection - from the bitter Khar, a dish made of banana peel, papaya and vegetables mashed together, to the delicious (and hot) Naga smoked pork ribs, your choices are plenty!

All the meals are followed by rice (as a true northeastern meal should be), and there are two options on all days, although they aren’t many vegetaran options, but the ones that are there reall hit the spot. Unfortunately, they are currently only delivering in North Delhi, starting at midday and closing at 10:00 PM. The food comes separately packed in microwave-friendly containers and clean packaging, all at very affordable prices. So whether you’re from one of our Seven Sister states and miss mom’s mangal ooti or mashor tenga, or you’re just really craving some mouthwatering food, this is the right place for you.

You can check the daily menu on Chaminnasi’s Zomato page, and orders are made only via telephone.

Telephone: + 91 9873704232

Cost: INR 500 for two.
