Pero's SS17 Collection Brings 'The Forbidden Garden' To Life

Pero’s advance into their new studio space has done more than merely change their address - the new space has been a whole new influence upon which they have built their fresh new SS17 collection. Enthralled by their full bloom garden space, Pero’s ‘The Forbidden Garden’ gives a somewhat tainted imagery a whole new definition, and it laudes itself for inspiration and craftsmanship.

Inspired by the works of Pierre Joesph Redoute, a painter and botanist from Southern Netherlands known for his watercolours of lilies, roses and other flowers at Malmaison, Pero has brought his works of art to life. Using the techniques of long and short stitches, Pero describes that they have created intricate floral embroidery making for the star of the show. What’s more is that Pero has been experimental this season with the weights of hand woven linen with the use of light linen gauze and heavy linen stripes. With this collection, they tell us “you can expect to see a mix of bright and subdued floral printed mulberry silks, cottons and chanderis.”

As far as detailing is concerned, Pero have paired their signature buttons with european crafted lace and used crochet flowers made by skilled Afghani women for hangings and tassels. While we’re at it, a special mention is in order for Pero’s collaboration with adidas’ Stan Smith sneakers that they designed for the exhibition hosted by Homegrown.
