Whether you’re trying to get over that Friday night hangover or just feel like the definition of a hearty breakfast, your Saturday mornings just got real with IHOP’s Indian launch. A myriad of fluffy pancakes, syrup drizzled waffles and every sort of omelette under the sun are all available right now in Gurgaon!
Fear not southerners, IHOP plans to open 20 more restaurants across India, so everyone can dig into their famed Blueberry pancakes.
“For the first time, we are bringing the concept of IHOP to India. We’re famous for breakfast and pancakes. We are now serving our famous pancakes in India, which is the 20th country to have an IHOP,” commented Gary Moore, Vice President, International, DineEquity, Inc.
The added plus is that IHOP is coming to India with a new makeover as they want to provide guests with a ‘California feel’, so that when diners dig into their side of sunny side up eggs they think of sunshine, fresh light and a little bit of California dreaming.
We know this isn’t the end all be all of American breakfasts, but sometimes your body craves a bit of greasy goodness to get through the morning. Also, you’ve got to give IHOP credit for how their menu caters to the Indian market as well as their American heritage. Of course, there’s no beef, but they still have clung on to their mantra of meaty goodness and are serving up items like their lamb omelette which pays tribute to Indian sensibilities whilst remaining a surefire American, protein powerhouse.
As far as prices they aren’t a walk in the park, but neither are they overpriced. “We are concentrating on family customers. IHOP is about eating around with family. I think Rs 400 per head is very reasonable average if look at our serving sizes,” said Gary Moore.
So whether you’re veg or non-veg, a health freak or a gluttonous monster who has a pancake addiction, your weekend brunch scene just got some great california lovin’.
