Starting this month, the government of Uttarakhand will begin the hunt for a life saving booti -- Sanjeevani Booti. Sounds familiar? If you grew up watching the cartoon versions of the epic poem, Ramayana, the word should take you back to the image of Hanuman flying with a mountain filled with herbs to save Ram’s brother, Lakshman.
What the Monkey God couldn’t find at first glance, Uttarakhand government claims to find within in the coming few months. “We have to try and it will never go to waste. If we are determined we will certainly find it,” said the the state’s Minister for alternative medicine, Surendra Singh Negi, to AFP
As per the report by The Times of India, Negi who is heading the search, had earlier proposed a plan of 250 million rupees for the project to the central government. Although, it inevitably got rejected, but Uttarakhand government stepped forward to fund a whooping 25 crores for this way-out project.
As mentioned in the ancient text, the magical herb is stated to grow in the Dronagiri range that borders China, in the Himalayas. Even though sages and researchers have failed throughout the centuries to find the herb, the state government will be sending scientists across the range in search of this supposedly mythical herb.
As depicted in the poem, this herb has restoring properties, that can probably revolutionize modern day science. If found by the government, it will surely make the years of effort made by other scholars go vain. Although, with what we can guess, it may not be the case at all.
