With lawyers, students, social activists, teachers, filmmakers, journalists and photographers uniting, this silent protest was in solidarity with the all-India march taking place in Delhi, called 'chalo dilli'. Mumbai Protesters Sing To Support JNU, Vemula & Soni Sori"Ae dil hai mushkil jeena yahan, zara roko, zara toko, ye hai bharat meri jaan."On February 23, 2016, a demonstration gathered about 150 people at CST station in South Bombay with banners and posters in hand, and leaflets being passed around. This silent protest was in solidarity with the all-India march taking place in Delhi, called 'chalo dilli'. The purpose of this demonstration was to support JNU students in their fight for rights against right wing fundamentalism, gain justice for the Dalit student Rohith Vemula from Hyderabad University who suffered an institutional murder as he committed suicide after facing discrimination, social boycotting and ostracisation, and in support of tribal rights activist Soni Sori, who was attacked last week in Chhattisgarh. The protest was moved to Azad Maidan after cops cleared demonstrators out from CST, where the crowd proceeded to give speeches explaining their cause and scream slogans asking for accountability and a proper democracy. Finally, Mayank Saxena, a cultural activist, and scholar Rossi DSouza performed a song summing up the general atmosphere, the video of which is posted here
