It is the first thing many of us crave for in the morning, that sweet brown thing that makes all of life’s problems go away for a while. Yep, we’re talking about coffee, the liquid that keeps this country going, amongst many others.

But sometimes, just plain old store-bought instant coffee or ten-rupee coffee courtesy of Ram Kaka just doesn’t cut it. That’s when we turn to these fancy little cafes for coffees that will warm our hearts and our hands in the cold winters and air-conditioned summers of Delhi.

The only thing we love more than a ‘punny’ name is great coffee so this place gives us the best of both worlds. Their open counter presents a plethora of local and international options including Mysore and Malabar whole beans. Beginners can start off with the basic French Press while the more caffeine-initiated can try the Zest, Monsoon Medley and Cafe Noir.

Don’t take our word for it, try out their iced coffee yourself and you’ll be singing its praises all day long.

With its playful interiors and extensive selection of meticulously-brewed coffee beans, there is so much to love about this cafe. In the short time since its establishment, Blue Tokai has managed to win over the hearts of all those caffeine cravers who are in its vicinity.

With its humble origins in Churchgate, Mumbai this cafe has brought its eclectic and unique coffee offerings to Delhi and several other states across India. If you’re someone who loves having a lot of options then this is what you’ve been looking for all your life. Between the Jamaican Blue Mountain and Brazil Bourbon Santos, your tastebuds can visit all the lovely lands you’ve only dreamed of.

A self-described ‘soul food restaurant’, this cozy place delights the diehard coffee fanatic with its wide variety ranging from the light caramel finish of ‘Single Estate Artisanal Coffees to the nutty overtones of the ‘Attikan Estate’.

If an artisanal cup of coffee is what you’ve been wanting to try, this is the place to put on and then check off your bucket list.

HG Recommends: The Karadykan Estate, Vienna Roast (Rs. 120) is perfect for those that enjoy dark, bitter flavours offset by fruity overtones.

A cute trattoria-themed cafe that serves freshly brewed coffee? Sign us up for life! And If you like your coffee like your heart- ice cold, then all the exquisite coffee flavours are available in the iced variety as well. And when we say variety, we mean variety- they have Ristrettos, Macchiatos, Affogato and Doppios. And no coffee menu can ever be complete without cappuccinos and lattes of course.

While this is primarily a vintage store, their attached French Cafe is truly one of the best in the city. With steaming cups full of Café Crema, French Hot Chocolate, deep, rich Espressos and Americanos this place is one-stop shop for all things coffee.

HG Recommends: For that fancy yet old-school feel, try the traditional cappuccino and bask in its perfection.

Any cafe that boasts an address inside the Taj promises nothing short of pure luxury and that is exactly what the Emperor’s Lounge offers. With a wide range of offerings that includes Aged Indian Monsoon Malabar and Colombian Medellin Supremo, this cafe doesn’t fall short in any aspect. With its humble roots as a coffee brewery, United Coffee House has now expanded to a full-service restaurant, but they still stay true to their identity by curating the most special of brews.

This grand, old place was opened up in 1942, even before the Independence, and has always had in-house master blenders who can be entrusted with serving only the best of the best coffee. Go there and visit it for its old-world charm and to-die-for coffee blends that boasts decades of satisfied customers. While you’re there, try their South Indian Filter Coffee for a mind-blowing experience that will leave you wanting more.

HG Recommends: The rich flavour and citrusy scent of the Ethiopian Sidamo (Rs. 189) gives it a refreshing twist.
