A two-day moving art market is being organised by artists Shreya Josh and Nayana Ria Keswani in Gurgaon, this weekend. Below The Treetops promises to be the first in a series of pop-ups that invite young artists in Delhi NCR to showcase their work, while engaging in conversation with the prospective buyers of their work. Art of all kind is welcome here - this isn’t an exhibition, Nayana stresses, but a living, breathing marketplace for fresh talent.

The work of 15 artists, across medium, will be showcased. The emphasis is not on curation but on encouraging these artists to put their work out, for public consumption, without any inhibitions or insecurities. Stick and poke tattoos (co-organiser Shreya runs tattoo studio, Tender Pokes and specialises in tiny, minimalist tattoos), soft installation pieces by feminist artist Ishika Madan, hand-carved wooden combs by Mallika Chandra, bold digital art prints by Arman Roy Kapur and metal sculptures by Tarini Sethi - chances are you’ll find something that appeals to your sensibilities at Below The Treetops.

Not just rectangular canvases that hang on the pristine, white walls of galleries and exhibition spaces, art is constantly evolving. From the vivid murals on walls in markets and metro stations (brought to life by St+art India) to fashion label Bobo Calcutta’s garments that are a form of protest against the liberty to love without restriction - there’s no limit to the ways in which a thought, a mood or an idea can be brought to life. Pastel-drenched watercolour paintings by artist by Tarini Ahuja and Nayana’s contemporary clothing find equal space at the Moving Art Market and that’s what we love about the concept. In fact, in the interest of not restricting art by form, make sure you stay for the screening of documentary film, Blues Before Sunrise, and musical performances as part of the itinerary at Below The Treetops.

If you’d like to attend this pop-up, just drop Shreya a message here and she’ll invite you to Below The Treetops. Here’s a sneak peek of the art that will be on display.
