Explore Poetry, Art, & More At Bandra's ‘Monsoon Room’

Black coffee, and outside, the clouds brew in colours of gray melancholy,
Turn up the volume, get that easy chair and look out of the window -
From the sanctuary of this space, the city seems so meditative;
The sea pans out across horizons, waves break at the shore
And then the clouds hang low and burst open, and the haze grows...

Mumbai, is a city that shares profound feelings for the monsoon season, as for many around the country it is the central association with the region. The intensity of the season in the city is unmatched and has the ability to make or destroy any day or event in addition to having adverse effects at times. Yet people tend to associate with a sense of joy that comes with its own baggage.

An avant-garde art space Method Bandra explores this dynamic relationship with their upcoming exhibition, ‘The Monsoon Room’. Three young artists Abeer Khan, Hiten Sondagar, and Jaidev Tripathy essay their own unique interpretations of the Monsoon in Mumbai in their highly individualistic styles.

Creating a moody haze around the city’s monsoon with photography, graphic, text/poetry and monsoon-inspired merchandise. The curator, Himanshu Verma, is an artist, freelance researcher and writer; he is the founder of Red Earth, a New Delhi based independent arts organisation that works with Indian contemporary visual art as well as diverse forms of cultural expression.

From documentative to meditative-expressive bodies of work, the curation explores ranging iterations that ‘come together to paint a poem of the city in the rain’. The exhibition will go on from 24 September to 16 October 2022 and is open all seven days of the week from 8 AM to 10 PM.
