Black Cube Productions, an alternative art production house, brings to Delhi a one-of-a-kind immersive art experience — A Reflection of Society. Black Cube has an interesting mix of Indian contemporaries in the field of art, and young upcoming talent, all of whom have come together to create interactive installations. The artists’ interpretation of the seven sins — lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride — these installations trace their evolution to the present-day setting and at the same time, “hold a mirror up to our community.”
The works of art use varied media, ranging from light and sound to installations and virtual reality. Black Cube’s first curatorial showcase will display the works of art individually in standalone rooms. The rooms will hold multiple “pods” to ensure the effectivity of the immersive experience. “The viewer will be able to experience the constant struggle experienced by humankind to conceptualise a system that operationalises their spiritual shortcomings. Works will be created to represent other immoral, shiftless, and self-gratifying behaviours prevalent in modern society. Artists will materialise their representation of our theme heavily referring to the youth of our country,” reads Black Cube Productions’ website.
The artists who will be showcasing their creations at the event include Krishen Khanna, Phaneendra Nath Chaturvedi, Arunkumar HG, Dhananjay Singh, Ranbir Kaleka, Himmat Shah, Jagannath Panda, Ompal Sansanwal, Thota Vaikuntham, Arjun Kanhai, Bahaar Rohatgi, Sahaya Sharma, Tarini Sethi and UBIK. The exhibition has been curated by Sanya Malik, the founder of Black Cube Productions, with Megha Mehdiratta as head of operations, and Ishita Sethi as head of production . The exhibit’s exploration of the seven deadly sins is aimed at representing “the melting pot of our fragmented society.” This all-encompassing sensory experience is one that should not be missed.
