The Paris Olympics officially began on July 26 with a grand opening ceremony held on the Seine and it will continue till August 11. Over the course of the next few weeks, we’ll be bringing you daily updates on everything the Indian contingent achieves while there. Here's a recap of everything that’s happened so far:
The Indian Contingent: A total of 117 Indian athletes, including 5 reserves, comprising of 70 men and 47 are competing in the Paris 2024 Olympics. The athletes will be participating in 69 events spread across 16 sports.
Returning Medalists: Neeraj Chopra (javelin), PV Sindhu (badminton), Mirabai Chanu (weightlifting), Lovlina Borgohain (boxing), and members of the Indian men's hockey team are previous Olympic medalists.
India's First Medals: On the 4th day of the Olympics, Manu Bhaker won India's first medal, a bronze in shooting, becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal. She later won a second bronze in mixed team 10m air pistol with Sarabjot Singh, making her the first Indian to win two medals at a single Olympics.
