Every year, the streets of South Bombay transform into a creative haven of sorts. Crowded with art installations, panel discussions, book launches, workshops and more, Kala Ghoda Art Festival brings the best of local art, culture, and heritage and makes it more accessible for the residents of Mumbai. This year is no different. In fact, this year’s festival is a glorious celebration of two decades of the country’s largest multicultural festival.

Over the years, the stories of Mumbai have always been at the heart of the festival. Every work of art is somehow rooted in city’s unforgettable past and rich heritage. Playing exactly on that note is the ‘By Mumbai’ art installation set up by the students of Pear Academy. Taking inspiration from the humble yet towering banyan tree, ‘By Mumbai’ is an an interactive installation that encourages residents of Mumbai to tell their own stories in a creative way. An 8 feet tall installation adorned with 90 blank-page books, By Mumbai is for anyone bubbling with stories. Each book has its own Mumbai-inspired theme like Shivaji Park, Ladies Local, City’s Smell, My Passion, Bhau, Volo etc. Words that represent a slice of Mumbai’s fast-paced lifestyle.

Moreover, apart from rediscovering storytelling through diverse narratives and voices, everyone who participates in this installation is eligible for an Amazon Gift Card worth INR 2000. All you have to do is head to the Kala Ghoda Art Festival, bring out your pen, and write away.
