The Little Journal Is Celebrating The Underrepresented Voices From The North-East

The Little Journal of Northeast India, founded by Prarthana Banikya is not just a magazine, but a repository of North-Eastern art and culture, and in turn, the life and ethos of its people. With an aim to explore and celebrate the underrepresented, rich and diverse stories of north-east India, The Little Journal spotlights the works of poets, writers, photographers, and artists of all kinds who have a unique story to tell. It’s a space that is safe and inclusive and brings together people from North-East India through literature and art.

Prarthana Banikya, in her interview with Feminism in India, reveals that she was inspired to create The Little Journal after browsing through Brooklyn Public Library’s Our Streets Our Stories project, which was a collection of stories bound together by a single thread – the borough of Brooklyn, New York City.

The first issue of the journal was published in 2019, with it being six issues old right now.
