Homegrown is an Indian digital youth culture and lifestyle platform for the creative class. It was started from a passion to 'change the narrative. There was an emergence of independent creators in every realm; people who were defying cultural stereotypes and bringing forth new perspectives. It is a celebration of emerging creative voices and the cultural zeitgeist of contemporary India: being uniquely Homegrown.
At Homegrown, we look for artists who work with taboo topics that are socio cultural in nature. Those who are underrepresented, underfunded, unknown. We look for entrepreneurs with side-hustles, with success stories, stories of failure with spunk. We look for identity-driven narratives that paint a picture of the socio-political struggles of our youth in this country. We look for street-culture and the people shaping it: the fashion designers, the b-boy and hip hop dance groups, the skateboard and rap crews. Job Title: Video Editor Intern
Location: Mumbai-based
As part of a hyper-growth creative agency, you will play a pivotal role in creating high-quality, engaging content for both brands and Homegrown original stories across key channels. This is a highly cross-functional role where you will support our mission to elevate the creative output, personally delivering compelling work through in-depth research and close collaboration with the editorial, analytical, and marketing teams.
The role requires an understanding of various social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and the Web. You'll be doing more than just bringing graphics and video to life—you'll use your creative background to craft powerful stories with a strong insight into youth and social culture, identity, visual arts, music, fashion, street culture, social justice, and more.
Proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and the Creative Suite programs.
Demonstrating strong Graphic Design skills: A balance of identity, typography, and layout (Experience with Cinema 4D is a plus).
Assisting in conceptualising and producing content for various digital platforms: Campaign execution, presentation layouts, design, social media posts, and templates.
Establishing a clear understanding of the storyline and purpose of the video's creation.
Ability to think visually, conceptualise stories, and support the editing of video packages.
Understanding various brand identities/voices to assist in executing brand campaigns and social visual strategy.
Engaging in referencing, pitches, and deck development.
Contributing to creative and ideation discussions.
Seeking out and implementing new editing technologies and industry best practices to maximize efficiency.
Working with creative directors and teams to support larger media goals and development.
A quick learner who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and dynamic environment.
Strong, open, and persistent communicator.
Ability to work independently and be highly responsive to constructive feedback.
Strong time management skills and understanding of deadlines.
The ability to identify with the Homegrown voice and aesthetic.
A strong motion graphics, design, and video editing background is a plus (while this is an internship, previous relevant project experience or coursework is beneficial).
