Bangalore’s 15 Best Breakfasts Are Here—Get To It!

Gone are the days of racing-to-work breakfast pit stops with a quick glass of chai and a smoke, topped off with a stick of pink gum. While most millennials with college budgets and tight schedules might survive on a morning meal of mouthwash and nicotine, we are still believers in the ‘breakfast like a king’ philosophy. We enjoy the theatrics of maple syrup smoothly glistening over stacks of fluffy pancakes, revel in the refreshing taste of fresh orange juice, and we crave the morning jolt that comes only with a strong cup of coffee.

From crunchy strips of salty bacon accompanying sunny side-up double eggs, to smooth chutney alongside crispy, buttery dosas, we’re breakfast champions across all cuisines. And putting this morning meal love to good use, we’ve compiled guides to our favourite breakfast spots around multiple towns, replete with every detail you need about them.

Having scoped out Mumbai and Delhi in the past, we now turn our culinary eye to Bengaluru. So scroll on for the city’s best joints for scrumptious breakfast delights, and bookmark this page specially for hangover mornings.

BYLI – Bet You Love It is one of the newest entries into Bengaluru’s breakfast club and does a really superb continental breakfast.

Vittal Mallya Road, UB City, Bengaluru | T: 080 4098 2050

Café Noir, as the name infers, is heavily French in its choice of offerings and is famous for its pastries and viennoiseries. But if the thought of some of the best made croissants east of Paris don’t tempt you to make it an all-croissant breakfast (we can just about control ourselves from ordering three per person and accompanying it with a café au lait), Café Noir’s actual breakfast options are incredibly good too.
Must have: The French Breakfast, of course. A choice between a croissant, pain au chocolat, brioche or Danish raisin, plus half a baguette, a bowl of seasonal fruit, an omelette, a glass of juice, and tea or coffee. If you’re in a rush, grab a Le St. Germain sandwich (ham and Emmental on a baguette) to go. It’s what the French would do.

Koshy’s is one of those Bengaluru mainstays that has attracted breakfast lovers for decades. Over the years, it’s also been a popular hangout for journalists, artists, theatre personalities and students—think of it as Bengaluru’s Samovar. Rasta Café is a super chilled spot on the Bengaluru-Mysore highway, 47 km from the toll plaza on Bannerghatta Road. Its wooden bench-style seating lends the place a cosy, almost country feel. It’s also a huge after-party spot for the city’s youngsters who flock here to grab some midnight munchies.

Ward 72 HAL 2nd Stage, Opp Starbucks Coffee, Indiranagar, Bengaluru | 080 2520 0898

Let’s be honest, Smoke House Deli’s food is pretty great. And their incredibly unique décor (hand-doodled sketches, anyone?) doesn’t hurt either. There are quite a few good breakfast options here (unsurprisingly), but there’s one standout item for us.
Must have: The Chorizo + House Sausages Skillet Fried Eggs. The ratio of fat to meat and spice is just right—enough for a little kick but not too much to make it uncomfortable. The three-egg dish comes with hash brown potatoes and a grilled tomato on the side. But if spice isn’t your thing, go for the Eggs Benedict.

Any restaurant whose mission in life is to serve up every kind of egg it can to its customers definitely gets a big thumbs up in our book. The founders of The Egg Factory were brought up in a meatless household, but one that relished eggs. So they decided to take their love for the humble egg public, and so, The Egg Factory was born.
Must have: Anda Fajita (scrambled eggs with mushroom, red bell peppers and tomatoes served with two tortillas) and the Southwestern Frittata (sautéed veggies with cheddar and creamed with sour cream).

Average price for two: Rs. 400

4, 8th Main Road, Koramangala 4th Block, Bengaluru | T: 080 4094 9490

Breakfast at The Hole in the Wall Café will probably be one of the best meals of your life. They do all-day breakfasts—and they do them like no one else. This place is always packed (if you’re an international breakfaster, think of it as Bengaluru’s very own Jane, the NYC breakfast hotspot) so plan to arrive early. Whether you like good old fashion artery-cloggers or healthy options, there’s a little something for everyone at his café.
Must have: The All English Breakfast (Sausage, bacon, a fried egg, baked beans, sautéed mushrooms, mashed potato and a grilled tomato), and The Porky Hole 9 Yards Hash (diced hash brown, pork pepper sausages, bacon and pork pepperoni tossed with sautéed onions, capsicum and mushroom).
