Indian Artist Expresses Longing For Human Touch Through Mixed Media Series Called ‘Fragment Of Time’

Benazir Baig

Vasudeva Naidu is a Darjeeling based artist who has been reminiscing of the pre-pandemic days when close proximity with other humans wouldn’t arouse fear.

Adhering to the rules of social distancing, the young artist has put his love for mixed media art to express his longing for human touch. It is his way of documenting his tryst with solitude, isolation, and a blur in the so-called clockwork notion of time.

The idea for his series titled ‘Fragment of Time’ was conceived during the lockdown, when the world came to a screeching halt. With ample time on his hands, memories of a pre-pandemic time kept gushing back to him.

He fought lethargy and tried making sense of this longing for human touch by employing his mixed-media skills. He usually uses acrylic, charcoal, and even newspaper clipping on paper.

He believes that the pandemic made him understand the value of human touch, which he wants to preserve not in his memory but on a tangible material, which will transcend time, mortality, and memory.
