Indo Warehouse’s Coachella Set Is A Watershed Moment For South Asian Electronic Music

Pari Pradhan

This Friday, April 18th, Indo Warehouse is taking the stage for their second weekend performance at Coachella 2025. Last week, they made history as the first South Asian electronic music collective to perform at Coachella, marking a turning point in the growing homegrown electronic music scene. Now, the collective is bringing their celebration of South Asian culture, lovingly nicknamed ‘IndoChella,’ back to the Gobi Tent stage at 10:40 pm Pacific Standard Time.

Founded by Armaan 'Kahani' Gupta and Kunal Merchant in 2022, Indo Warehouse is a label injecting South Asian elements into modern house and techno music. In just three years, Indo Warehouse has grown into a global sensation and crafted a distinctive fusion sound they’ve coined “Indo-House.” Based in New York and having performed all over the world, from Europe to Asia and the Middle East, Indo Warehouse is part of a burgeoning South Asian electronic music movement. Their prestigious spot as the closing act at Coachella’s Gobi Tent is just further proof of new South Asian artists’ appeal to diasporic audiences and beyond.

Indo Warehouse’s weekend one performance was more than just your standard DJ set. It was a massive production with over 25 performers, exhilarating lighting and stage design, and, of course, original music that had the crowd dancing all night. The set was a large-scale tribute to South Asian music, using every moment of the 50-minute performance to showcase a different aspect of the culture.

Drummer Nilal Singh and his dhol drumline showed off our impressive traditional percussion while dance teams Baaghi Bhangra and Raas Ruckus brought the stage to life, proving to the world why dance is so important within our culture. Indo Warehouse also brought out the musical duo Anvaya and singers HYDR and PDNY, spotlighting rising artists with distinct South Asian sounds. Moving beyond the music, the artists wore custom designs by the iconic late fashion designer Rohit Bahl, sporting cultural motifs like peacocks, elephants, and lotus flowers.

While Indo Warehouse’s weekend one set was explosive, they hope for their finale to be their biggest performance yet. Tune into the livestream of their performance at 11:40 am IST on Saturday, April 19th, here.
