Transhumanism & Tech Futurism: Rohan Mirza is Laying Out A Bold New Path For Design

Gulbahaar Kaur

Taking the human body as a starting point to imagine a futuristic design language, Rohan Mirza is a young designer and 3D artist based in Paris who explores the coinciding reality of fashion and tech. The creations often take inspiration from the cyberspace, gaming arena and other sci-fi narratives.

While other creatives are seeking to expand their footprint across Web3, Rohan’s creations are introducing the design language of the digital world to our physical reality. The prosthetic jewellery visually derives notes from the 'Metaverse' as it transforms our daily wear into a largely robotic appearance.

Rohan’s utopian view of the future credits technology as an asset rather than viewing it as a threat. Due to its sheer power to enhance our abilities and add to the entire human experience. As a huge advocate of 'Transhumanism' his creations view the inclusion of technology into our everyday lives as a huge gain and means to evolve beyond our limitations.

The digital world allows for a lot of creative freedom where Rohan can utilise tools such as 3D printing to explore unique designs. The jewellery and prosthetic adornments morph features and transform humans into mythical beings. These micro-collections are building an interface between reality and fiction by offering a peek into the distinct possibilities of the future.
