While the world was still trying to make sense of the dissonance that the pandemic brought along two years ago, its people took to the internet to express their angst, agony and fears. While some resorted to TikTok and reels to cope, there was also a slew of artists, musicians, and creatives who finally embraced that the internet was the only common stage that we shared.

Amongst the several breakout internet sensations in the past two years, Anumita Nadesan shot to fame as one of Instagram’s beloved singers. The singer/musician’s covers of popular Bollywood tracks undeniably held a calming effect on the world gripped by a pandemic induced cabin fever.

The twenty-year-old singer’s cover of Jashn-E-Bahara from the period-drama Jodhaa Akbar garnered over two million views within a month and placed her voice on the country’s radar for promising young talent.

Anumita’s fame continued to grow as she consistently churned out newer covers and experimented with different formats and platforms including Youtube where she also has a massive following.

In an obvious yet exciting next endeavour, preparations are underway by the artist who is channelling her creative energy into putting out original music that evokes her true artistic persona. With her debut single, Khwaab lined up for a February release, Anumita tells us a little more about the track and her inspiration behind the same.

“Khwaab is a simple depiction of what goes on in a new artist’s/dreamer’s mind. It’s like their wishes and dreams start to move from the dream world to the real, in hope of finding a world of their own. This song is an ode to that curiosity and to those nerves and hopes.

It’s my debut single and I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with me on this. Big love to Rajan and Himonshu from The Yellow Dairy for seamlessly aligning with my vision for the song and absolutely killing it with lyrics and production. I would also like to appreciate the dream team at Big Bang Music for believing in the song and putting in their heart and soul in putting this song out.”

— Anumita Nadesan on Khwaab

The track is equal parts soothing, creative and endearing which is an apt description for Anumita’s body of work so far. The song is set to release on 4th of February, 2022 and will be available on all major streaming platforms.
