India has always been home to scientific pioneers, but recent years has seen a shift towards an inclusion of creative and artistic values. With the world facing a unique convergence of environmental, economic and social crisis, there is an urgent need to address these issues by harnessing talent and channelling it for innovation towards social change. And Maker’s Asylum’s STEAM school is back again to do precisely that!

STEAM School is a 10 days long experiential program that brings together an interdisciplinary group together to work on problems aligned to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Set up in 2016, STEAM School was designed with a mission to foster creative leadership for a sustainable future. It has an alumni base of over 500 people from diverse backgrounds and professions in 25 countries.

STEAM School solutions have cut across sectors such as healthcare, education, energy, waste management, sanitation, responsible consumption & production and many others in the last couple of years. Their methodology harnesses the power of collective intelligence to solve community problems through enlightening the participants in the concepts of design thinking, problem framing, solution brainstorm, prototyping and more. Over 50 solutions have come out of the program and are under different stages of progress.
