Apply Now: India Smart Cities Fellowship 2021 Calls For Young Thinkers

Meghna Mathew

Over recent years, we have seen Indian millennials and Gen-Z getting increasingly proactive in their efforts towards tweaking the world for the better. This may be through creativity, technology, innovation, and activism amongst others. Something that remains common throughout these aspects is that of leadership – an all-important factor in trying to change the world.

Giving the youth the opportunity to hone their leadership skills by helping the urban sector reach new heights is the India Smart Cities Fellowship 2021 by the Ministry of Housing Affairs under the Smart Cities Mission.

With an aim to solve city-specific urban problems, the fellowship is a year-long (one additional year based on a performance review) programme that is on the hunt for passionate and innovative youngsters who think of high-impact and cutting edge solutions.

The fellows will be placed in testing yet exciting situations and locations to be able to think and provide ideas that are out-of-the-box and efficient. Under the guidance of mentors from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the fellows will work out of New Delhi for the first five months, and later out of a Smart City for the rest of the months.

The deadline for applying to this fellowship is 31 January, 2021.
